GATINEAU, Quebec – Jennifer Abel of Laval, Que., and Pamela Ware of Beloeil, Que., earned gold and silver in the 3m springboard synchro and Roseline Filion of Laval, Que., and Meaghan Benfeito of Montreal added a silver in the 10m platform synchro at the 2013 FINA Diving Grand Prix.

"It’s a thrill to win an international event at home," said Abel.

"I knew the expectations were high for me but it was a good pressure.  I know the mistakes I made can be easily corrected and it was great to land my third dive which has been my nemesis this season for big scores."

In the women’s 10m platform synchro, Lian Jie and Huang Xiaohui of China were the winners at 331.50. Filion and Benfeito, the Olympic bronze medallists in London, earned 9.0’s on their first two dives en route to second spot at 319.32. Monica Marquez and Karla Rivas of Mexico were third at 296.34.

Filion was coming off a subpar performance in the individual 10m on Friday.

"I had one of the worst performances of my life on Friday," said Filion. "I saw the synchro is a great opportunity to get some confidence again. My teammates gave me a lot of encouragement and I felt we produced a very strong performance today."

Pamela Ware and her sister Carol-Ann Ware were fourth at 288.66.
