PR 21 - Women's World League: Greece and Russia register first win in round 5
Lausanne (SUI), March 13, 2013 – The teams of Greece and Russia walked away with their first victory in the European tournament of the 2013 FINA Women’s Water Polo World League during the fifth round, which was held on Wednesday March 13.
Hungary and Italy, whose squads were defeated for the first time in this preliminary phase, continue to lead their respective group, A and B, with 9 and 8 points, respectively.
In Group A, 2011 World champion Greece overtook their Hungarian opponent 12-9 in Athens. In the Group B match in Chelyabinsk (RUS), the local team proved too strong for the Italians, winning 14-6.
The Asia/Oceania tournament will kick off on May 9th in Auckland (NZL), followed by the Americas tournament on May 24th in the USA (city to be confirmed).
The women’s World League Super Final will be organised in Beijing (CHN) from June 1-6, 2013.

GROUP A: 1. HUN, 9 pts (3 wins, 1 loss); 2. ESP, 3 (1W, 2L); 3. GRE, 3 (1W, 2L)
GROUP B: 1. ITA, 8 pts (3W, 1L); 2. RUS, 4 (1W, 2L); 3. NED, 3 (1W, 2L)
