Doha 2014 is progressing well
A FINA delegation, led by Executive Director Cornel Marculescu was in Doha (QAT) on March 5-6, 2013 for a two-day visit within the frame of the preparation of the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) to be held in this vibrant middle-east city on December 3-7, 2014.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Press Conference updated the local media on the status of the organisation. Mr Marculescu expressed FINA’s satisfaction on the advancement of the operations:
“Our close cooperation with the Qatar Swimming Association has proven to have strong foundations and they share with us the same vision: the Doha 2014 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) will be an exceptional event, that will further promote the image and value of Swimming. We are delighted and pleased by what we have seen and discussed and look forward to working again with our partners in charge of the organisation of these Championships in Doha”.
Mr Khaleel Al Jabir, President of the Qatar Swimming Association considered:
“Qatar Swimming Association (QSA), since its establishment, has dedicated all its efforts in promoting the exciting sports of Aquatics within the State of Qatar and the organisation of this unique Swimming competition is a great opportunity for supporting our initial goals. Qatar Swimming Association is honoured and proud to be selected by FINA to host this world class event at Hamad Aquatic Center. In close collaboration with FINA and with the support of Qatar Olympic Committee, we are preparing to host the event at the highest possible level”.
In conjunction with the 12th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in December 2014, will be held in the Qatari capital the third edition of the FINA World Aquatics Convention on November 29-December 1, a forum where FINA National Federations and business partners of the sports international market get together and have the opportunity to discuss the future of Aquatics.
