Canada, so underdone when playing the USA two days earlier, decided to come and play class water polo. The effort far more refined and composed and the victory solid. The start was good at 2-0 but Romania, a rugged and challenging opponent at all times, struck back with a double to NEGREAN, the second on extra. BOYD and GEORGESCU traded goals and it ws the last time Romania was in position of power against Canada.BOYD and CONSTANTIN- BICARI scored their second goals, the latter at centre forward, and DIGGLE also converted extra for a 6-3 lead. Goals were traded to 8-5 when KUDABA sent one in on extra. RADU and CHIOVEANU scored on extra for Romania for 8-7 but CONSTANTIN-BICARI's third, also on extra took the margin to 9-7. RADU never gave up the fight and plastered the back of the net from two metres but the Canadian juggernaut hit top gear when BOYD scored either side of a VIKALO goal to close the scoring.Canada now gets to play Australia for ninth place while Romania takes on Japan.
