When a team like Croatia takes on a lower-ranked team like Brazil it is a chancy affair. Chancy perhaps for Brazil who, once the shell-shock had subsided and the scoreboard read 7-0 midway through the second quarter thought it was time to join the action. The tentative steps saw the game go to 8-2 and 11-2 before SUKNO drove right to score for 11-2 inside the final three minutes of the third period. FRANCO, with a donut shot from three metres and CRIVELLA with his second from the top, brought Brazil to 11-4. It was 22 seconds from time before Brazil scored again and BOSKOVIC, who scored three goals in 90 seconds in the first quarter, completed the scoring for a relaxed Croatian team when he shot from five metres with 10 seconds left. Croatia gained some extra-man attack practice and looked strong all over the pitch but will probably not be really tested until the second week, with matches against Canada and Japan to finish the group. Croatia had 10 more shots than Brazil at 37.
