Development News

A total of 30 participants from Nepal attended a swimming clinic for Technical Officials (Beginner to Intermediate level) from the FINA Development Programme hosted by the Nepal Swimming Association (NSA) on April 18-22, 2010.

The training programme was inaugurated by Mr. Pitambar Timilsina, Vice President of the National Sports Council of Nepal. The five-day clinic was given by Mr. Ong Hock Lai, Chairman of the Technical Swimming Committee of the Singapore Swimming Association, and comprised a good mix of both theory and practical session in the lecture room and pool deck at the Satdobato Swimming Complex in Kathmandu.

Most of the participants found the clinic useful and rich in knowledge. They also have all the doubts cleared especially on the Swimming Rules.

“The participants were very enthusiastic and very eager to upgrade themselves. They also enjoyed the group discussion which helped them to enhance their ability to manage the competition where judgment calls need to be employed”, said Mr. Ong Hock Lai.

The programme ended with a formal closing by Mr. Hari Babu Chaudhary, Member Secretary of the National Sports Council, who was the Chef De Mission of the 11th South Asian Games in Nepal.
