Japan Swim 2010 - Japan's swimming nationals - has started on April 13, 2010, at the Tokyo-Tatsumi International Swimming Complex. The six-day championships welcomed more than 430 teams, totaling 1,365 swimmers, coming from various parts of the country.

Several-time Olympic gold medallist Kosuke Kitajima, a breaststroke specialist, recently returned to competition and swam pretty well in the men's 50m breaststroke event. He broke the national record with a time of 27.30 in the morning heats but it is Ryo Tateishi who eventually won the title, clocking 27.66 ahead of Kitajima, who finished second in 27. 71.

New national and high school records were also established in the 50m breaststroke on the first day.
